What is Vanilla Roll Cake?

A vanilla roll cake is often called a swiss roll or a jelly roll. It’s a type of sponge cake that is filled with vanilla-flavored whipped cream then rolled into a spiral before serving.

  1. Add 40g of whole milk and 40g of corn oil into a bowl.

2. Stir corn oil and milk to emulsify.

3. Afterwards, sift in low-gluten flour and mix well.

Separate 4 egg yolks and egg whites.

4. Add 4 egg yolks and few drops of vanilla essence then stir well.

For meringue part …

5. Add 1/3 of the sugar in the egg white (40g sugar in total), turn to medium-high speed and beat until the foam is fine.

Then add 1/3 of the sugar, turn to high speed and continue beating until the texture can be shown.

6. Go to one third of the meringue and mix in the egg yolk paste and mix well.

7. Pour all the egg yolk paste into the remaining meringue.

8. Mix well.

9. Pour the cake batter from a high place into the baking pan. Flatten it.

10. Preheate the oven.

11. Tap the cake mold to remove big air bubbles.

12. Bake at 150 degrees 23 minutes.

13. Put it on the drying net to cool down to room temperature. Cover with greased paper to prevent drying.

14. Spread vanilla-falvoured whipped cream on the reverse side of the cake. Spread more cream on the rolled end.

15. Roll it up with the help of a rolling pin and press it with your finger.
